Yippee! Surely the editor can’t keep it TOO long……like, more than a week?! Can’t wait! Thanks for all your hard work. All your fans appreciate it very much.?

    Can’t….wait…..the….agony….of….anticipation!!!!

  5. Al August 19, 2015 at 12:04 am #

I am sure it will be worth the wait. I have read all of the Family Law and April books a minimum of 6 times each, and several of them more than that. Your books hook me in and I have trouble putting them down until I have finished them. The snippets you have included here on your web site have had me checking several times a day to see if there was anything new about the book. Thanks for your work.

Can’t add more as Al said 🙂

      I know, I know.

  12. Melvyn August 19, 2015 at 1:05 pm #

What Al said. I’ll be checking daily to make sure I get it as soon as I can. Thank you.

    • Mac August 19, 2015 at 2:44 pm #

I’ll announce it here when it goes up. You get the RSS feed?

      • Melvyn August 20, 2015 at 5:48 am #

No, but I check the site a couple of times a day.

    • aze August 19, 2015 at 3:47 pm #

      Me too.

I wonder what I’ll be reading first, FL#3 or Vaz#3 (Disc)?

      • ChuckC August 26, 2015 at 4:32 am #

No Amazon listing for “Secrets in the Stars” yet.
“Disc” is on pre-order, to be shipped 8/28.
The race is down to the wire, with Disc in the lead…

        • Mac August 26, 2015 at 7:02 am #

I’m not ever going to do pre-orders, and it’s not a race. If we have problems I want to do it as best I can – not shove it out there. Enjoy Disc. — Mac’

          • JJ August 26, 2015 at 10:07 am #

            And, honestly thanks for that.
Your books read as good as any big new york publishing house puts out (or maybe better).
Your plots, characters, etc. could easily have graced the pages of big publisher sci-fi books and cost us more than what you charge through kindle – and still be a great value.
Now just to get a couple of my dead tree loving friends to give the ebooks a try, or spend the extra to by them in paper…. sigh.

          • Mac August 26, 2015 at 1:33 pm #

I’ll have several in paper this rear. It’s expensive however. Trade size is the only viable option right now. The pocket size mass market paperbacks require far to big a print run – thousands – to do right now.

          • PaigeFault August 26, 2015 at 7:20 pm #

Definitely keep us notified when you come out with paper books! I’ll buy them all again just to have them to re-read when I’m hiking or just want that weighty feel.

            Omnibus maybe?

          • Chuck C August 27, 2015 at 3:52 am #

The race concept was merely a joke about the comment I replied to. Absolutely it is not a race and you should not “shove it out there”.

I am curious what the issue with pre-order is. I’ve never used it before, but would have for “Secrets in the Stars”. It sounds like you have a serious issue against the concept, and since I don’t know what it is I’m curious.

          • Terry Dean August 29, 2015 at 4:39 pm #

            Chuck C
Excuse me for speaking for the author. As I recall from discussions here and by another author, the major issues were 1) the author had to already have a certain sales volume and 2) the finished copy had to be turned in 10 days before the pre-order release date. The second item would delay publication for eager fans as well as possibly produce a rushed version for the deadline. I have no problem getting the book release earlier without pre-order.

            Mac
Please take your time and do it right (as always). Your fans will appreciate it.

            Terry

Aaaa this is the hardest wait.

  16. Ahmed August 20, 2015 at 10:16 am #

I’m checking both site for fl 3 ever 15min.

    • Mac August 20, 2015 at 10:36 am #

Honest – no need. I don’t imagine it’s going to be edited in less than a couple weeks. I haven’t even got a cover to OK or not. I mean – thank you for thinking it’s that good, but it all just takes time.

      • John Leggett August 27, 2015 at 3:57 pm #

Mac, I know you have been on Baen. Have you ever had talks with them about publishing your books.

  17. Paigefault August 23, 2015 at 6:10 pm #

Mac – I really love your two series’. I’m very much looking forward to April’s new book. I read about a book a day, and rarely re-read them. I’ve re-read both of your series’ TWICE in the last year.

That’s how good I think they are.

  18. John August 27, 2015 at 7:59 am #

Great job on getting the book done. I’m looking forward to spending my next few days re-reading the entire Family Law series. Like others here, I’m also looking forward to Vaz #3. Thanks MC.

  19. Melvyn August 31, 2015 at 7:07 am #

Thanks to everyone who mentioned the “Vaz” series. I hadn’t heard of them before, but have now read and enjoyed them. Another author added to my watch list.

    • John August 31, 2015 at 7:54 am #

You would probably like Dahner’s other series as well that starts with “Quicker,” and is about a remarkable girl named Ell Donsaii.

      • Melvyn August 31, 2015 at 5:16 pm #

        Thanks. I’ll take a look.

  20. M Michael Spencer September 1, 2015 at 3:17 pm #

Well….like a dummy I finally found the entry about you finishing the third Family Law series, it’s going on 4 months and I’d really love to read it. Please try to speed them up a little. Thanks.

    • Mac September 1, 2015 at 3:42 pm #

Talked to the editor today. He’s past the page 200 point and kindly says it is pretty clean – and that I am capable of learning. (Implying many authors – aren’t.) I also need the cover. Sarah Hoyt has been sick but I believe she’s doing better so I should have that from her. When she finally gets to it she only takes a half day.

      • ChuckC September 2, 2015 at 1:41 am #

If Sarah stays under the weather, it might be Cedar would do the cover for you. She is very busy, so asking sooner rather than later might make it more possible. I’ve never actually met either of them, I’m merely a fan of their books and blogs, and Cedar blogs about book covers and other art.
For anyone that wonders what blogs:
        http://accordingtohoyt.com/
        http://cedarwrites.com/
        http://madgeniusclub.com/
The author list at madgeniusclub are good names to look up at Amazon, and their blogs are often interesting too.

        • ChuckC September 2, 2015 at 1:55 am #

I should add that I heard of your books from them, in one of the occasional lists of books by friends at madgeniusclub.

        • Ed Patterson September 7, 2015 at 4:17 pm #

I am reading Cedar’s Pixie Noir per the above advise.

The cover which she did is excellent, but I would prefer Sarah’s just to keep the style/feel the same.

          • Mac September 7, 2015 at 5:35 pm #

Yes, Sarah has been doing way too much after having abdominal surgery. She found out she isn’t Super Woman. I want her to do the cover and we’ve already been sending pix back and forth and taking about it.

  21. Katie September 1, 2015 at 8:30 pm #

    I’m looking forward to this.
I’m going to be recovering from surgery and off from work for a couple of weeks.
I don’t suppose this will be ready in time for tuesday 8th September?
It will make time go faster to have a good book or 10 to read…..

  22. Ahmed September 4, 2015 at 4:31 pm #

Any updates on FL 3 ???

    • Silke September 5, 2015 at 12:24 pm #

It’s written and worked over, so be patient. I’m just happy it will come.
Actually I fear it, cuz never can put his books down until the last page – which produces a lot yawning at work. 🙂

      • ChuckC September 9, 2015 at 4:14 am #

This is a company shutdown week for me, so for me this is a great time for Mackey to publish.
Other than this week, I agree that my employer would be happiest if Mackey publishes the e-book on a Friday afternoon or on Saturday, with a few days warning. That way I could recover from the reading binge before work.
However, Ahmed would be very upset if I anybody actually suggests waiting one day longer than needed. And my anticipation level is also very high.

        • Mac September 9, 2015 at 7:47 am #

You just wait until Friday to start reading it. One hopes you aren’t running a nuke plant or repairing jet engines…

  23. Ahmed September 5, 2015 at 2:48 pm #

But the wait is killing me :(((((

  24. James Crutchley September 10, 2015 at 12:14 pm #

Can’t wait. Have been checking amazon every day! Every morning and afternoon. Oh plus I check after dinner and before bed. Love your books. So excited you have another one coming out soon. Already called work and told them I’m not available when book comes out.

  25. James Crutchley September 10, 2015 at 11:45 pm #

Is the ebook available at 12:01 AM Pacific Time? Or can i get it in 15 min at 12 AM EST? Gonna sit on Amazon site and hope it is available as of Fri morning:P Can’t wait. Must READ the Good Book!

    • al September 11, 2015 at 1:09 am #

I wish it was coming out Friday. My understanding of what he said to CHUCKC was that if the job CHUCKC did was critical he should wait until a Friday to read it. I keep checking this site several times a day to see if Mackey ever says the book is ready to read. I want to read it now…. but as near as I can tell it’s still at the publishers, with no time expressed for it to be ready. I am impatiently waiting until it’s ready, and hope it’s Friday, but i don’t think that is what he meant.

      • Mac September 11, 2015 at 9:42 am #

Don’t mean to get any false hopes up. I don’t have a cover yet. It is still being edited. I THINK – end of month.

  26. Ahmed September 10, 2015 at 11:54 pm #

What FL 3 out now really??????

    • Mac September 11, 2015 at 9:41 am #

No,no,no… Finished being written. Not published. I hope by the end of the month.

  27. gallandro_83 September 20, 2015 at 9:54 pm #

Any updates on how the editor worked vs the prior process? I know we’re waiting on the cover but is there any rewriting that is required?

    Gallandro

    • Mac September 21, 2015 at 3:39 pm #

Waiting on both. They tell me it’s all good for this month.

      • John Leggett September 27, 2015 at 10:04 am #

Is the end of the month still good?

        • Mac September 27, 2015 at 2:21 pm #

As far as I know yeah –

        • aze September 29, 2015 at 5:14 am #

45 hours left (37 in my timezone). I tend to believe it will released in the first days of October, Mackey will have to read (and act on) the comments of his editor before publishing it.
