    Three questions.

    1. Are your e-books available on any other site than Amazon? I can’t find any for my Kobo which would be great even though I own them all as kindle (on my PC) and the Audio of Family Law.

    2. Do you want errors such as continuity issues sent to you or just keep our pedantry to ourselves? I have read all your books so many times that they have become more obvious. I have way too much time on my hands!

    3. Is “…needs towed…” in ‘About Mac’ and all your books instead of “needs towing” a regional usage, American usage or personal usage/ Not a criticism of any sort. As a ‘strayan from down under I don’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to language usage. Just curious as I read books by many American authors and haven’t found it too common.

I just finished the latest Clem Daems e-book and found myself making notes of all the punctuation and spelling errors. He may tell me to jump off a cliff if I send them to him (or just ignore me). I’m not sure if it’s easy to update an e-book to fix such things or even worth it if the story still makes sense.

Thank you so much for putting yourself out there as an author. It takes either a thick skin or great courage to face the fickle masses with just your imagination. Like many others, you have given me literally hundreds of hours of enjoyment.

    Regards

1.) No I tried using other sites and got very few sales. Amazon allows people to use two borrowing programs if your books are exclusive to them. You get paid a little less than a half cent a page for the books they read. That may not sound like much but I’m coming up on 47 million pages read.
2.) Yes feel free to point out errors. I constantly update my books. Use mchandler@ameritech.net
3.) Yes, I was born in Ohio and have Pennsylvania Dutch roots. It’s difficult to remember to add “to be” since it is omitted in speech by my family. I’ve managed to drop some extreme expressions like “outen der light”. I’m a high school graduate who got horrible English grades and could not diagram a sentence if you held a gun to my head. But I do enjoy telling a story.
And yes I am amply rewarded for writing. First of all I still enjoy writing. I haven’t let it take over my life. I don’t do pre-sales, set deadlines, or get more involved in marketing than writing. I don’t need the money to live. We’re very conservative financially and have no mortgage or car payments so that’s not a pressure. A few extra hundred thousand dollars just allows some luxuries like buying a new truck instead of two or three years old. I like the other people involved in writing science fiction. I’m effectively deaf and don’t get much socialization so speaking with them online gives me some human contact. They tend to be smart and practical compared to the general population. I’m amazed at the people who do fan fiction for free. I believe you are correct and they are afraid of being told how bad they are. Critics only know how to criticize and have had bad things to say about every writer no matter how many fans or books they sold to give others enjoyment. Indeed it would seem if books sell a lot and people like them that’s a mark against them for the high minded critic who only praise lit-er-a-ture. That is, the sort of rambling ‘message’ books that have to be interpreted that they make you read in school as punishment for being a public school student.

Would love to be a beta reader ,but I’m dyslexic so no good as a editor. However make me one of your favorite readers. I wouldn’t notice any errors I just care about the story.
