I was hoping this meant the book is on Amazon now, but not yet.

Can now you provide an estimated time of publication?

  2. Joseph Winn says:

I thought I saw this on Amazon as another books cover.

  3. James Crutchley says:

Nice cover. Ran over to amazon to check and it was not up yet. Got all excited seeing cover hoping ebook was up.

  5. Joseph Winn says:

Yes, very excited to read the sequel myself. I hope it come out today, I have a block of free time coming up I’d love to fill with another of Mackey’s books.

  6. WRDNg says:

Last day of September means I will be circumspectly be checking every couple of hours hoping for the release. Who else is with me?

    • James Crutchley says:

I’m checking every hour or 2 too. Fingers crossed hoping it is released today or tomorrow. Reading another new release that came out today by another author i like. Another release on the First of October for another. So hopefully this ebook will be out between the 2 releases!

      • Mac says:

Editor is telling me Fri. if he has power for his laptop on a long flight… And we have to call Amazon and get a live person to do the rights switcheroo.

      • David says:

What books are you looking for? I need to waiting for next book, but I still need more to read.

        • Mac says:

Not sure I understand the question. “Secrets in the Stars” is almost done. “They Said it would be Easy” is about 2/3 done.

        • aze says:

I guess Azula Carver by DePrima may be the release for October 1st.
I’d like to know the book you got on September 30th, too.

          • James Crutchley says:

Azula carver by DePrima came out today the 1st yes. I was reading another ebook that came out that i was unaware had been out for a few days because i forgot to sign up for authors newsletter. Now i am on deprimas newest ebook waiting for this author to release his latest book. Just finished “Root of Unity” by S. L. Huang which is an action book about a girl with a penchant for math that lets her do incredible things.

Amazon and Goodreads are pretty good these days about recommending books based on being ‘like’ books you like or ‘purchased by people who purchased this book’, but I’ve come across a few books/authors/series through comments like this that were never recommended to me by the automated methods (not sure why… seems obvious in retrospect).
I found ‘April’ that way, and Peter Grant’s ‘Maxwell Saga’, and Alan Black’s books (‘Metal Boxes’, etc.).

I’ll definitely check out DePrima. If you haven’t read Grant or Black, they’re worth a look see.

Amazon recommends my own books to me…

  7. John says:

Friday? That’s not so bad – weekend reading material, and won’t have to resist impulse to finish
    book before/during work!

  8. WRDNg says:

    Duh Duh Duh

Well at least I have a plan for the weekend. Fingers crossed.

  9. Adam says:

Who is this editor? Do you think he can be bribed into an early release?

  10. David says:

    FRIDAY!!! Only 2 more hours!

    • James Crutchley says:

Four more hours by my clock if Midnight is release. I am so excited I can hardly wait to read this book! Good to hear that its finally available after weeks of anticipation. 🙂

  11. James Crutchley says:

Well it’s 1:26 am Friday and ebook is not available yet. Guess it is not coming out today unless it gets published in random AM hours lol. My hopes were raised when i saw a post earlier but now I am disappointed they were wrong!

  12. Joyce says:

    So……tomorrow? We hope?

  13. James says:

Is the book coming out today?

  14. Dave says:

I reckon it will be released sometime next week

    • Mac says:

Haven’t heard anything from the editor. I’d like to start making some money too.

      • David says:

We want to give you money.

It is funny Amazon recommend your own books to you.

Like your cover but would prefer to see larger text regarding the “Family Law” series. When re-reading books on the Kindle, it’s often difficult to determine which series a particular book belongs to (and the position of the book in that series) without opening the book file.

Also, I note that Kindle Direct Publishing is recommending “for best quality, your image should be 2500 pixels on the longest side” along with your current image’s aspect ratio of 1.6:1… so if you have a higher quality image, this info. may be helpful.

I don’t do anything in order to cause trouble. It just so happens that what I do naturally causes trouble. I’m proud to be a troublemaker.

  16. Mark Anderson says:

Why are you saying that you have not heard form the publisher but the publisher says the book is delayed? Does the publisher not have a phone? Is this your first time with this publisher? If so, and if they cannot communicate with you I would highly recommend finding a different one!

    • Mac says:

Funny you should say phone. I can’t use one. I’m effectively deaf. I don’t always report what he’s been saying unless people start asking – so there is some lag. Any small start-up business has limited resources. I’ve never demanded hard deadlines from him. He estimates and I’m happy with that. He pushes himself more than I do.

  17. Matthew Bird says:

    Mr. Chandler–
Have you gained some value from Henchman press? I ask because they seem to have missed multiple goals for publishing and you were talking about transferring rights? I would hate to lose access to further works due to some misunderstanding or problem? Why did you change?

    • Mac says:

Definitely. He’s helped me with the business side of things. I’m letting him manage the “Family Law” series and retaining everything else until I see how he does. I want to write and not have to deal with editing and formatting and marketing. In the end I’ll write more not being taken away from writing by these things.

  18. Mark Anderson says:

Did this business owner say he would have X done by Y? Has X been done by Y or not? If not, why not? This business owner told you Y, and then you turned around and -correctly- told everyone else Y. Now Y has come and gone. You are the public face of your own books and this business has failed you, and your readers through you. This does not strike me as the type of task where the business did not know they would not meet the deadline on the day of the deadline! Am I correct in that assumption? Did they not know days or weeks ago that this date would not be met? If so, why did they not notify you?

Maybe I am being harsh – but if you say you are going to do something and have it done by Y – then it better be done by Y!

    • Terry Dean says:

Not necessarily in book publishing. Deadlines shift all the time in this field for many reasons and fans just learn to go with the flow. Authors are different, things happen, and the most that fans can expect is that someone will keep them informed about the delays. And enjoy the book the more for the anticipation.

Enjoy the fruits of their labors! When it is time.

Just my opinion from over fifty years reading experience.

    • John says:

As soon as I saw “and we need to call Amazon” to have it out Friday I knew it would take longer still as of 9/30 they said Monday/ Tuesday at the latest. Hopefully holds up.

    • Mac says:

Well if we were rebuilding jet engines or running a nuclear reactor I’d get real fussy about performance. But I’m one person and he’s one guy with a couple support people. Not a big NY publishing house. Nobody is going to sit in the dark or fall out of the sky if he’s a couple days later than estimated. It’s a book for entertainment. So I tend to be easy going about it.

  19. Joyce says:

As with many of my fellow fans that have commented here, I have been impatiently checking multiple times a day to see if FL3 is out yet. Reading these comments this morning I am irresistibly reminded of the mob of crazed shoppers jammed against the doors of the department store on the morning of a big sale—people are getting really antsy and I’m grateful no one can get trampled in cyberspace! Repeat after me, everyone: Patience is a virtue!
Nah, didn’t work for me either. Darn!

  20. Mark Anderson says:

has the publisher contacted you at all?

    • Mac says:

Told me today he expects to have a few questions and approvals for me Monday – and then post it sometime Tues.

  21. Mark Anderson says:

So he missed Friday, did nothing all weekend and hopefully will post it Tuesday?

  22. Joe W says:

Chill out Mark you seem unreasonably angry over this.

  23. John Leggett says:

It is much quicker that the standard publishing houses. “Secrets in the Stars” was finished in September and it looks like it will be published in October. Normally it takes about six months .

  24. Joseph Winn says:

    Gasp!!!

  25. Sean says:

All I can say is that it was well worth the wait and can I have another please…..

  26. Matthew Bird says:

    Mr Chandler–
Good book, I don’t know where you will go from here but I look forward to the next installment.
