The very kind lady who started maintaining this site for me is older (like me) and at that point in life she has more on her plate to deal with than taking care of my site. She was doing it basically as a favor. But some things like the e-mail redirect for comments don’t work. and I also lost my Ameritech address as unusable. AT&T has had our accounts screwed up for a long time. It got to the point my wife was needing to call every two weeks to get them to reset my password because this big TECH company only offers voice support and I am deaf.
I asked for my domain name back and am now negotiating with a capable young man to either repair this site or create a new one. It’s not going to just disappear. – Mac’
Good to hear you will keep posting here or elsewhere. Didnt know you were deaf, I have 60% hearing loss from bomb explosion, and tinnitus (of course, that has to be there too). Maddening at times. I very much enjoy your stories, they provide a welcome escape.
I get tinnitus too. It doesn’t usually bother me except when each ear has a tone at a different rate. The right going toot, toot, toot and the left going tooot, tooot, tooot. They the hetrodyne and grow closer until they toot at the same time…..
You should have a look at https://wordpress.com/, for WordPress hosting, it’s run by the developer of WordPress (In case you don’t realise that what your current site is using), Once you have control of your own domain name you can set up the Hosted site to use that domain.
I would suggest that the Premium hosting option would probably suit your needs, you would need at least Personal to use the custom domain name i.e. “mackeychandler.com”, the free version would give you something like “mackeychandler.wordpress.com” assuming that’s available, and also have WordPress Ads.
Disclaimer: I do not use service this for my own site, as I manage my own Hosting manually. However, I would recommend WordPress.Com to anyone looking to do WordPress hosting without the skill to set up their own WordPress site on a generic web hosting platform.
If I can be of any help, please let me know. I do know a good bit about this sort of thing. You spend your time to bring enjoyment to me, seems the least I can do is to give you some of mine.
I think I have a guy – If it doesn’t work out will get back to you.
WordPress.com is ok but I really don’t like using it. I have used it for 3 or 4 clients and though not bad it’s pricing and support left me disinclined to recommend it or use it myself for more than a basic, basic blog. The limit what you can do as far as plugins for wordpress and don’t do email. for full features and reasonable hosting I have used namecheap.com I keep my domains their and use their hosting and both are in the reasonable pricing range as well as full feature. They offer full wordpress support and if you get someone competent it is easy to simply move your existing wordpress site over to the new hosting. You can then have as many email addresses as you want at mackeychandler.com such as mac@mackeychandler.com or author@ or well anything you want.
