About the CONTACT service here.

WordPress is not very user friendly in some ways. And I am no expert user.
I discovered after several people couldn’t contact me that I had a huge backlog of messages in my contact folder. Some quite old and several fairly important.
I set my email to forward posts from contact@mackeychandler.com and now found out it isn’t doing it… Doing web searches on the matter I find this is a common problem not easily fixed.I tried to set up a gmail account to forward them to since AT&T is a horror story to try to configure. The WP server won’t accept authentication from there…
WP uses PHP and I may have to go to SMTP to get the forwarding I want.
Please be aware making comments instead of using contact is much better.
Last night I sat and deleted HUNDREDS of contact messages for sunglasses, Russian ladies seeking sexual partners, sure fire investment services…from the backlog. I responded to a few old messages but still have to go through several hundred not spam.
I apologize if anyone thought I was just ignoring them and indifferent.
So bear with me please people.

Ah, I’m in the process of setting up something similar on WordPress myself so thanks for the heads-up! I am instructed.

You can’t mail anything without SMTP

I can still send fidonet mail Jack! BWA HA HA HA

FidoNet is a world-wide network of over 15,000 systems which exchange mail and files using a mix of proprietary and internet protocols.

    Too long; Didn’t read.

    I’m an exspurt Yup.

You can slap up a LAMP stack slap some wordpress on it and be a coffee achiever. I understand the love of this. Once you have something that works this works well. It takes a lot of talent to have a setup like this. With stock setups the basic secure setup has been done for you. You still have to read instructions and create content.

This tends to mean websites using this are locked into a rigidly designed template.
That template may be secure but it could have broken portions which may not reduce security but by YAWD and the wholy PacMan ghosts they will just STAY broken. Some hosting sites do not allow ‘fixing’ this evers. They are the bastion saints of applying updates and WordPress 2 ThouSand is the word of YAWD!*

*have had to deal with this drivel

    Lamp is

Linux, Apache webserver, MySQL database (feh) and Loverly PHP.

Linux is ok, better than windows. Neither survives an ignorant installing or running it. Linux allows high speed screwups. Windows encourages you to take longer to screw it up properly. It’s hard to do right. When done right Linux wins.

Apache is the most attacked webserver in existence. It is A patchy webserver. It’s damn robust. No it don’t survive ignorant installs but they at least have to work hard.

MySQL database is not cool but the M might mean Maria DB which appears cool. I’ll deal with Maria DB or Postgresql DB. Again, the more capable ones allow bigger bang for your screwup.

They will allow nuclear propelled screwups, it’s not even hard. SQL is just plain evil in that it takes such an extreme level of competence to get right many implementers get it wrong. There is such a vast amount of information needed to do it right it’s easy to not dot the T.

PHP is the most hacked scripting language in existence vying for javascript as the most hacked. Same as SQL being the most hacked database language/script whatever is is.

Dot those Qs, cross those Is and never let them T your Ys

In Family Law 3, they should have been using this (https://physics.aps.org/articles/v12/83) type of mapping system, it would allow them to map the ground under the ocean.

This system they should be able to do with two small drones.

If you look at gravity maps of earth you can see they allow low resolution mapping of the sea floor

    Help?

    • Ember February 15, 2021 at 12:13 am #

Pretty sure Mac ended up pulling that book. I think because he got a lot of flack for it.

    • Mr. Meval March 8, 2021 at 11:12 pm #

Paul, Mackey pulled that book from publication. “The Way Things Seem” is the title. It’s about a man who is tasked by his deceased father to take a pilgrimage to Africa to meet the man who had guided him.

Mackey has some very good mainstream series but Paper or Plastic? and The Way Things Seem in those two stand alone novels show just how diverse and excellent his writing is.

could it be the story – The Way Things Seem. which set partly in Africa rather than the middle east and features an person who owed a space electronics component company?

  7. Paul February 15, 2021 at 3:41 am #

Yep. Pulled the book? Dang, I rather liked it.

Sorry about the typo hurricane. Cat was helping me…

  8. Kevin February 18, 2021 at 12:19 am #

Speaking of the pulled book at the time I was ok with it being pulled because I got to read it and if was going to be a drop series would probably not need to read it. plus i could tell in your post that it became a pain for you. Plus give you more time on april and family law. Over to me its become forbidden fruit. I live in Oklahoma the belt buckle of the bible belt. I figured the church ladies didn’t like it. Do hope maybe release it or add to another book.

  9. Esther Willson February 20, 2021 at 11:34 pm #

I liked the pulled novel also. But if trolls made it too much of a royal pain to provide, so be it.

    Hey…..Here nor There..?
    What about part deux..?
You left off with a cliffhanger….one of the best I’ve read without part 2..!
    HOW ABOUT….Neither There or Here…for part 2?..

    • Mac March 12, 2021 at 12:20 pm #

I may get around to it. “Paper or Plastic?” would be fun to do a sequel too. I have a bunch of first chapters of other stand alone books too. Wish I’d started this 20 years ago.

This is some crap I put up with – this false DMCA notice has a malware link. It’s reported to yahoo – but of course it may be a spoofed address.
