April series / Family Law series

Although Family law #3 – “Secrets in the Stars” s ties the two series together I am having Henchman Press handle the Family Law series and take them to paper. I’m waiting to hand the April series off to him until I see how he performs on the other. I’ll still be doing beta readers and handle my own cover and posting for April #7.

We all wish it was ready a week ago. I hope it does come out some time this month.

One of the reasons I love and read scifi is that it takes me to a place and time where the crapola I hear every night on the evening news is not relevant to the story. There is likely to be other crapola—author engineered crapola—but I have a reasonable expectation that the same author will deal with it in a satisfactory manner. I do NOT expect the author to agree with my religion, politics, social mores, etc. I am happy to extend to him/her the same freedom to believe as they please that I demand for myself, under the Constitution, and I do not begrudge them the ability to make a living simply because they disagree with me.
Why is it that if you disagree with a conservative, the conservative thinks you’re wrong, but if you disagree with a liberal, the liberal thinks you’re evil?

Would love to beta read but do no think I have what it takes to do that. It’s a shame because I love your books. I do not notice errors much in most Indie books and do not like to read for anything other than fun! Keep writing I just can’t wait to see what April will do next.

Theres no question of if you should keep writing!

Of course you should! Where else would I get my fix of your books if you don’t write them!

Did I read that right? April and Family Law are part of the same universe??

    • Mac September 12, 2015 at 12:50 pm #

Yes. I know… I was told it wasn’t possible to reconcile them. And no I didn’t resort to travel between alternative universes.

I am patiently waiting for Family Law 3. (I check for it at least once a day.) I have a few questions though. If they are part of the same universe, Family Law series must come later, and after rereading the first two books I recall that the mayor of the town on the moon is a Lewis. Is he a descendant? What happened to the nation of Home and Heather’s kingdom. The most important question I was wondering about though is what about the genetically modified people? In Family Law there is no mention of genetically modified people. Did they outlaw all genetically enhanced people or kill them off. There should be descendants then. People that have prolonged life and better reflexes, etc. I’m hoping if they are part of the same universe that these things can be explained. Love both series Mr. Chandler.

Can I put my name down as a beta reader….. I love your books and helping do search & destroy on little problems would be no problem in exchange for reading the story early!

      * I mean, can I please put my name down as a potential beta reader…..

The one downside to the comments is not being able to edit if you make a mistake, lol

Noted: Yes. I’m still going to do the next April story with betas. I will note – I still get complaints about errors even after eight beta readers went over the last April book. Two of them were professional editors for print publishing who just like my books, and at least one was a college professor. It gets to the point people send me errors that I and several other people conclude aren’t errors at all. I despair of ever getting down to zero complaints. I suspect this is because my first couple books were SO awful it set an expectation of finding errors.

Meh. A good story over rules a few typos/problems.

I just read the latest Mercedes Lackey book and thats professionally published etc and still spotted at least one typo (I mean I could be wrong… but I’m pretty sure of it).

Way off next year. I’m working on April series #7 right now.

Thats the problem with writing great stories! We always want more!

I just finished the 12 books of the April series. I love the story telling, but you need to hire a proof reader! You won’t get more than 3 stars in reviews from me if that aspect of your books doesn’t improve.

But you’ll buy them? That’s fine.
