Fixed a few glitches.

“And What Goes Around” has sold very well. I sold 121 books yesterday which is a new one day record for me. So of course I’m very happy.
One reader reported a section showed on his tablet as all in bold. I haven’t been able to reproduce that.
There is a section a bit past the half way point that I put some text in boxes. It looks good in Word – It looks fine in HTML. – And Mobi that Kindle uses messes it up in an assortment of ways. I tried to get it to render 3 times and bought the book myself to make sure it was the same in the bought version as in the previewer. I gave up and removed the boxes.
A couple folks are unhappy with the ending. I felt that a it was dramatic and a better point to cut off than a much more boring recital of how Home slowly got supply restored and were moved to become more independent in food and materials. There is little dramatic conflict there.
It is also smaller. Some of that was I felt good with the ending there. It IS a continuing story – I’m working on #7. And part is my first books in both series are too big for print editions in today’s business climate. Even with Amazon heavily discounting them Paper editions of Family Law have sold poorly.
There is some small resistance to $4.99 since I started out at $2.99. All I can say is I think $2.99 has become the price point where you don’t expect much. You may be pleasantly surprise – or not. I see a lot of shorts and novellas priced at $2.99. That is 50 to 100 pages pieces.
I welcome your discussion of any of it.

Gratz on the record! 4.99 is just fine. 2.99 is the novella price for a novella that say ties into a multi volume series but if its a stand alone novella I would likely pass. If a series is really enjoyable and has a large cast sometimes the story is fun from other view points if it has mainly been narrated from one view point. Which seems to be where a lot of novellas go. Thanks for the fun looking forward to #7. Back-Story is the Devil at book 7 if people don’t know what’s going on they can re-read! My only point of interest out of #6 is I would have liked to see a significant tech introduction (Fusion, Earth quake weapon, grav mitigation tech) as those really made dramatic changes in the first view stories. In your defense I suppose the focus on the virus should have been enough for me! Cheers

    Hi Mac,

Took a look at specifications for .mobi files. Unfortunately, didn’t see text boxes or tables included. Believe that I did see something in there for blockquotes… that might be your best option at this time. (Given the number of people reading on Kindles or smaller devices, I can understand Amazon’s reluctance to complicate formatting.) As to pricing, given the length and quality of your books, I see $4.99 as a bargain.

I have similar feelings about April 6. I was going along wondering what was going to happen next and how the author was going to work out the plot lines then bang. It was the end. It is like the old time serials at the movies leaving you hanging.

I do want to mention a plot line that has been in the background for several books. The lander that was so prominent in April 3 and the sail boat from April 2. It does seem to me there is a lot more story here. They could finance Lin building several more similar boats somewhat larger and build several more landers to facilitate their trade/smuggling operations and their intelligence gathering. These operations seem to be making a lot of money and have the potential for lots of conflict.

It is a series. I felt like anything after the dramatic end would be sort of a letdown after I wrote it. Perhaps I was wrong. It just felt right to me. I will touch on the ending lightly but April 7 will move on. – Mac’

One or two small editing glitches/typos, but nothing significant. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only problem for me is the perrenial one that it ended too soon, and I’m going to have to wait months for the next one.

I’ll try not to make you wait this long for the next. I’m writing faster now. Taking some meds that generally make me feel better besides continuing to lose weight. If you want to e-mail me the errors I welcome them. I fixed ten yesterday various people sent me.

Glad your feeling better Mac. I liked the ending for the last April. Kind of ended with a bang, and didn’t peter out like some endings do. It will be easy the remember when I go to read the next in the series. (Although I’m sure I’ll read it a couple more times before the next book is ready).
