On updates –

Apparently if you delete a book from your kindle device while your account is set to no updates it doesn’t restore the ability to update after you change it. Anything deleted while in that status is just – gone.
So be sure your updates aren’t turned off before deleting a book.
If anybody got caught by this send me a note and your e-mail and I’ll renew your copy without you needing to buy it again.

I think you can go to manage your kindle under the amazon web site and there is an action to resend the book, or you can go to the cloud under the kindle to select it as well. That should at least allow you to get a copy of the book again, even if not the updated copy.

Just realized, I was assuming you meant deleted from device, not from library. If it was deleted from library in manage your devices, then you might have issues.

Ah, OK. I never even noticed you COULD delete a book from the Amazon site instead of your device. I suppose somebody might want to do that to keep their kids from loading it again or just an obsessively neat person. I’d never have need.
Just looked – click on Your Account -> Your Library -> Manage Devices and Contents. Then under Actions you can chose Deliver / Delete / Download and transfer via USB and a couple others.

Is the edited April just grammatical or are there new sections in it

    • Mac August 11, 2014 at 10:00 pm #

A few clarifying sentences only. No new sections. Mostly spelling and grammar repairs.

Are you doing a promo? Just got an email from Amazon UK advertising April in mil sci-fi.

    • Mac August 20, 2014 at 7:20 pm #

No – I’ve arranged nothing from Amazon. Glad to hear they are promoting it. But I will be dropping the price over the weekend – Sat. / Sun. / Mon. with a bunch of friends who asked me to join in a group promotion (nothing to do with Amazon). It’s a holiday in the US Monday. Labor Day. These are all science fiction or fantasy writers who chat together in the evening. I don’t really LIKE all of their work. Some are just not my cup of tea. But they are all dropping prices to $2.99 for the long weekend. And we’ll all mention it and supply an URL at the last minute.

I heard about that on Sarah Hoyt’s blog I think. I think I’ve probably got everything I would want to buy, but I’ll have a look just in case I’ve missed something.

Did you mean this upcoming weekend, or next weekend when the holiday is actually happening?

Writing Amazon an e-Mail via “Help/Need more Help?/Contact us” on their site helps also, since delete/new download brought the same version back and they haven’t added an update-button for kindle’s “manage your content” yet. They worked some magic in the background and delivered me the updated version.

Thanks again for your book/s, I really enjoy reading and rereading them!
I already loved April non-edited, though I certainly appreciate the edited version <3

Hope your feeling better, how is the latest book doing. do we have a possible publication date in mind?

    • Mac September 25, 2014 at 8:07 am #

Took two weeks for me to finally feel back to normal. Thanks. No hard date set. I write a bit each day but right now I’m working on our cars before the weather turns cold and dealing with helping my publisher market outside Amazon and put out paper editions. It will happen – just not fast.

Glad you are feeling better. Enjoy the fall while it’s still nice. And, of course, keep us up to date with your writing progress.
